Building the business of ophthalmology!

Independent Ophthalmic Network

For catering purposes please RSVP by 5:00pm Friday 8th October 2010 to at info@ion.org.au For more information, please call 02 9635 0663 (Mon-Wed).

We are pleased to invite you to the annual ION Business Expo which aims to highlight the business and political trends of 2010.

Amongst other things, we are examining current issues and challenges faced by Day Surgery owners. Our expert panel will chew over the issues and identify areas which may require representation over the next few years.

We have entered into an exciting arrangement with Investec Experien which will make overseas Fellowships for ION members much less financially stressful. The Experien Overseas Fellowship Program will be introduced in the Fellowship forum which highlights where to go, who to speak to and how to survive an overseas Fellowship. This session is a must for any registrar contemplating an overseas experience within the next five years.

If you are wondering why you cannot sell your practice or where to join a practice then we will be discussing the barriers to successful outcomes in several presentations.

Mr Marcus Wilson from PriceWaterhouseCoopers will be speaking about the track record of corporatised medicine. There is now a representative recent history of General Practice, Radiology, Ophthalmology and other specialties from which to draw conclusions about the merits of these practice styles.   Mr Wilson has proposed to present the pros and cons of these styles against the recent decade of ‘user experience’.

It’s not all bad, but it’s certainly horses for courses.

Our regular Wall Street financial whiz, Dr William Ardrey will discuss practice growth by improved referrer relations. I am sure we will stimulate some good debate on this subject alone.

The new Orthoptic award has raised questions and as we go to print we will attempt to find a speaker to flesh out the recent changes and implications.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

So, why not join us and enjoy a spring weekend in Sydney?
